The Coming of the King
Shortly after gaining his new physical form, the Overlord used his powers to empower the Crystal Council, giving them new armor as well as their signature Weapon of Destruction. Happy with what they got, they thanked the Overlord in return as well as bowing towards him. When Lloyd managed to free himself and tilted the Crystal Island to one side, the Crystal Council and the Overlord held on to prevent themselves from sliding down.
After Lloyd fled the area, the Overlord ordered his council to pursue and kill the Green Ninja. During the chase, they managed to corner Lloyd, who tries to warn them that their master will destroy everything. When they all threw their weapons at Lloyd, the Green Ninja easily avoided them and the Weapons of Destruction collided, which caused a powerful explosion that knocked the Crystal Council to the ground.
Angry at their foolishness, Harumi scolds them, stating that their weapons are far too powerful to be in contact with one another. She then tricks them into going the opposite path that Lloyd took so she can go after him herself, believing that he deserves another chance to join the council.
As Lloyd was willing to jump off the temple while Harumi tries to get him on her side, the Council arrived to watch. They were left shocked and confused as Lloyd jumps down from the Crystal Island with Harumi. Aspheera tells the council to go after them, but knowing that jumping after the two is too risky, Pythor and Vangelis go back into the temple while the Mechanic retorts back telling her to jump after them.
Dragon Form
The Council aided the crystal army in overpowering the Resistance. However, when the ninja’s allies, including the NPCs, Sky Folk, Upply, Keepers, Merlopians, joined the battle, the ninja were able to attain Dragon Form and fought with their respective adversaries. As a result, the Council lost their weapons and were ultimately defeated.
Shortly thereafter, Aspheera warned the ninja that their triumph would be brief, as the Overlord intended to corrupt them all for their powers. Nevertheless, Zane intervened and froze Aspheera before she could say that she would exact her revenge.
Behind the scenes
According to Tommy Andreasen, Nadakhan was considered to be a part of the Crystal Council. However, the idea was scrapped since his return would have been too complicated to explain.
The plan for his return was for Clutch Powers to drop the Teapot of Tyrahn and it would break, freeing Nadakhan to join the council.

Crystalized Harumi is exclusive to this set.
Fugitive Lloyd and the two-armed version of the Crystal King are also exclusive to this set in regions where the Ninjago Magazine isn’t available, such as the US.
Additionally this set is the only way to get the proper hood for Fugitive Lloyd, and the armor for the Crystal King.
This is the only set from the Crystalized wave to not contain any Golden Weapons.
The Crystal King’s centaur form differs in several ways from his TV show appearance:
The set has two large and two small crystal shards/wings branching off his shoulders, but in the show he has four large wings.
The set depicts the centaur form as a mech that the Crystal King pilots from its chest cavity, whereas in the show it serves as the Crystal King’s final form, and the chest cavity is sealed with a large crystal.
Harumi’s hairpiece was slightly changed for this set. It had previously been made of flexible plastic, but now it is hard plastic.
This is Harumi’s fifth overall set appearance, and it continues the tradition of her often appearing alongside Lloyd.
This is the fourth set to include both the minifigure of the character, and the form they become.
