Where to find blackstone Minecraft ? Everything You Need To Know About Blackstone

Where to find blackstone minecraft ? Cobblestone is (let’s be honest) no-one’s favourite block. During the course of survival play you end up with so much of it that it gets boring fast, even though it inevitably finds its way into almost every build, often to fill empty space in between prettier blocks.

But it does play a vital role in Minecraft – serving as the basis for an entire tier of tools and weaponry. This became a problem when we were designing the Nether update. We wanted to make sure people could still supply themselves with the equipment they were accustomed to, especially on longer trips to the fiery dimension. But there’s no stone in the Nether, so we needed a new solution. Enter our block of the week – blackstone.

Blackstone only generates naturally in the Nether. You’ll find it under the lava ocean, in Bastion remnants, in veins near the bottom of the world, and all over the place in basalt deltas biomes. You’ll need a wooden pick or better to mine it out. In a pickle without a pick? Trade with the piglins – some will happily part with blackstone in exchange for gold.

You might be wondering what you can do with Blackstone. Well – as promised – you can make stone tools and weapons out of it. You can also make furnaces and brewing stands, as well as stairs, walls and slabs. It can be polished up into polished blackstone, which can then also be chiseled. In Java Edition it can even be used to repair stone tools in an anvil.

But blackstone is more brittle than regular cobblestone, so it can’t be used to make things with complex internal moving parts, like levers, pistons, dispensers, droppers or redstone components. It also can’t be used to make andesite or diorite, as they’re Overworld minerals. Sorry, but that’s just the way that geology works.

Where to find Blackstone in Minecraft

In the Nether

Blackstone is typically only found in Minecraft in the Nether, a different hell-like dimension that players can enter through a Nether Portal.

To build a Nether Portal, players will need to craft a 2×3 rectangle out of obsidian, then light the obsidian on fire. The easiest way to do this is by using flint and steel.

Once players are in the Nether, Blackstone is usually found in the basalt desert biome within the Nether. Blackstone can also spawn anywhere underground or below the surface of a lava sea, all in the Nether.

Using Blackstone

Gamers can use Blackstone just like cobblestone in Minecraft. They only need a wooden pickaxe to mine Blackstone, and it can be used to craft stone tools, furnaces, and more.

Blackstone can even be made into slabs and stairs. The stone is popular to use while building, as it has similar textures to cobblestone, but it is significantly darker.

Keep in mind that, despite the stone being darker, any tools crafted with Blackstone will look like regular stone tools. The tools do not become darker.

How to get blackstone in Minecraft

How do you get blackstone in Minecraft? In the 1.16 version of Mojang’s blocky survival game, the latest Minecraft update, we were introduced to a series of changes across this once-desolate land, making it habitable for the first time. For adventurers looking to get away from the Overworld and find a new home, blackstone will prove a useful tool, and it’s a worthy equivalent to cobblestone.

It comes in four varieties. Regular blackstone is your base block, available for crafting purposes, but you can make polished blackstone from it, a tougher material used for decorative items. A chiselled polished variant is also available, created through crafting two blackstone slabs together as opposed to regular blocks.

You’ve also got Minecraft gilded blackstone, which cannot be crafted or smelted. These require a pickaxe to mine them and that either drops itself or between two and five gold nuggets. There’s only a 10 percent chance of obtaining nuggets, but you can increase those odds with Minecraft enchantments. Fortune ones, specifically. So, here’s where to find blackstone, and what you can craft with it.

Where to get Minecraft blackstone

Blackstone is located at the Basalt Deltas—volcanic biomes in the Nether filled with lava lakes. For added protection in these inferno-filled climes, check out how to build Minecraft Netherite gear. Surrounded by a purple fog, these areas are also filled with white ash particles that helps them stand out.

You can craft polished blackstone, but these also occur naturally in ruined Nether portals and Bastion Remnants—castle-like structures also found in the Nether. Gilded blackstone also appears in Bastion Remnants, but they’re rarer. Speaking of, you can trade gold ingots with Piglins in these fortifications for drops of eight to 16 blackstone. Just make sure you’re wearing some gold armour before you approach them, otherwise they’ll attack you on sight.

Minecraft blackstone crafting: What can you make with it?

Blackstone can create similar items to cobblestone, except more technical items like pistons or levers. All weapons and tools are stone variants, too: there are no blackstone sets of these items. Here’s what you can craft however, and the amount of blackstone blocks and other materials required for it

Bastion Remnants

Bastion remnants are naturally generated structures found in the Nether. Bastion remnants are similar to Nether fortresses and woodland mansions in the fact that they are places where mobs can spawn in large quantities. The main mob that spawns within a Bastion remnant, however, is piglins, one of the new mobs added in the Nether Update. Bastion remnants are filled with piglins. They also contain treasure chests and blocks of gold. For the most part, bastion remnants are easy to spot because they are made out of the aforementioned Blackstone and its different variants which stands out against the contrasting red color of the surrounding Nether.

In Basalt Deltas

As previously mentioned, the Nether Update adds new biomes to the Nether whereas before, there was only one: the Nether. Now the Nether now has five biomes to explore.

The one biome that is the most relevant in this case is the Basalt delta. The Basalt delta is a very dark biome filled with a lot of dark grey and black blocks. Part of the reason for these dark colors and blocks is Blackstone. A Basalt delta is the only biome in which Blackstone spawns and generates naturally. In other words, a player’s best bet for finding Blackstone is either finding a Basalt delta or by finding a Bastion remnant.
