Where to find barboach pokemon violet ? Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the latest adventures from Game Freak that let players loose on a new journey with their favorite magical creatures. While this new generation of Pokémon brings some new faces, some of the classics make a return in Paldea as well. One of these returning Pokémon is the Water/Ground-type Barboach.
Barboach was introduced back in Generation III but still manages to find its way into new Pokémon games. You can find Barboach in Paldea as long as you know where to look. Here’s all the information you need to know about how to catch Barboach in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
How to catch Barboach in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
To find Barboach, look at the southern part of Paldea in the small collection of ponds that are shown above. Before you begin your search, you should know that Barboach has a rare spawn rate, meaning you might have to look in this area for a while before it appears. Just keep searching and check back often to ensure you find the Pokémon.
Once you find Barboach, it’ll be added as entry 168 to your Paldean Pokédex. It has two abilities that it can be caught with, including Oblivious and Anticipation.
Oblivious keeps Barboach from being infatuated or falling for taunts. The ability Anticipation senses an opposing Pokémon’s dangerous moves and lets the player know.
Barboach’s learned moves will vary throughout the levels, with Water, Ground, and Psychic being some of the most noticeable types. It also manages to be relatively faster than some of the other Pokémon.
You can evolve the Barboach to a Whiscash by getting the Pokémon to level 30. Once you get it to this level, the Barboach will evolve. That’s all you need to know about how to catch a Barboach in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Where to Catch Barboach in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Barboach is a Pokemon that lives exclusively in the water! However, you typically won’t find it in the northern regions of Paldea. Instead, you’ll want to focus on South Province’s Areas One, Four and Five. You can also find some spawn spots east of Cascarrafa and in East Province Area Three. In other words, look in bodies of water in the southern parts of the map for your best chances at finding Barboach.
Since Barboach is a water Pokemon, you have two options to initiate a battle with it. Your first is to use the ZL and ZR buttons on your joycons to aim and throw your Poke Ball. Doing this starts a fight on the water, where you can weaken and catch Barboach. Alternatively, you can swim with Koraidon/Miraidon to achieve the same goal.
Barboach’s Evolution in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
At level 30, Barboach will evolve into Whiscash. This evolution doesn’t require you to equip any items, increase friendship or fight specific Pokemon. You can either engage in battles to passively raise its EXP or feed your Barboach Candy for instant boosts.

Where To Find Barboach In The Teal Mask
There are only two spots of Kitakami where Barboach will spawn; the Crystal Pool and Fellhorn Gorge. Barboach is a fish. You will only find Barboach swimming in the water of these two locations.
With Fellhorn Gorge, this will be simple, as Barboach will be found in any part of the water surrounding the bottom of the Gorge. Where Barboach is a bigger problem is in its home under Crystal Pool.
There’s a cave just behind Crystal Pool, and you’ll need to enter this cave, fall down, go down the tunnel, fall down again, and turn around when you finally land in the water. They will be in the same location where you find Feebas. There may also be some Barboach in the spot you land in, meaning you won’t always have to turn around. Turning around is still recommended, as there will be a lot of Barboach even if Feebas also spawns.
How To Evolve Barboach Into Whiscash
Barboach will evolve into Whiscash at level 30. For The Teal Mask DLC, this is a nonissue, as wild Barboach will be in the range of the 60s and 70s by default. Just level up Barboach one time, any method works just fine, and you can get a Whiscase without having to find one in the wild.
Where To Find Whiscash In The Teal Mask
Opening the Pokedex, you can see that Whiscash will appear in both Fellhorn Gorge and the pond in Timeless Woods.
However, this information is not as helpful as you may think. In truth, the best place to find Whiscash is the water hidden in the cave under Crystal Pool. It’s actually exactly the same place where Feebas is found. Whiscash will often spawn there, and there’s one floating near the back. This does not seem to be an accident, as Whiscash spawning means Feebas won’t appear until Whiscash is caught or defeated.
How To Evolve Barboach into Whiscash Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Fortunately for Barboach, evolving it is a piece of cake! Leveling it up may take some time, but trust me, you’ll get there. Use up your EXP or Rare candies, join regular battles and partake in Tera Raid Battles and let your Barboach reach Level 30 for it to transform into catfish-like Whiscash.
Be assured that there is no need to get special evolution items for this particular evolution to occur. Likewise, there are no specific times or weather conditions needed. As soon as you reach this level, evolve animation will automatically be triggered.
Can you get Whiscash without evolving it from Barboach in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
If you want to directly have Whiscash crossed out of your Paldea Pokédex without catching Barboach, then we’ve got you covered as well. Like the rest of the Pokémons, they share the same preferences and weaknesses. With that said, you’ll get your best chance of finding Whiscash in lakes and river, specifically in these areas:
- Tagthree Thicket
- North Province Area One
- Glaseado Mountain
- South Province Area Six
- West Province Area Three
Stats Comparison between Barboach and Whiscash
Barboach holds a whopping amount of speed of 60, but evolving it doesn’t add anything to it all. As soon as it turns into Whiscash, it will receive a massive boost in HP.
