What Pokemon Evolves from a Dawn Stone ? All Pokemon That Evolve Using a Dawn Stone in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

What pokemon evolves from a dawn stone ? Pokemon Scarlet & Violet introduces new ways of evolving Pokemon, but evolution stones are as important as ever. The Dawn Stone is no different, allowing players to get two potentially powerful Pokemon.

One of the biggest themes of Pokemon Diamond & Pearl was new methods of evolution. That included the introduction of new evolution stones including the Shiny Stone, Dawn Stone, and Dusk Stone.

Each of these returns in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. The Dawn Stone is unique, however, as it was exclusively used to create diverging evolutionary paths based on a Pokemon’s gender. Here is where to get a Dawn Stone and how to make use of it in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

How To Get Dawn Stones In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Players can find a Dawn Stone on a mound of dirt north of Levincia alongside a Fire Stone. This allows players to get an early jump on evolution, as players can get it around the same time that they’d be fighting the third gym leader, Iono.

Alongside this, players can get an extra Dawn Stone via the Pokedex reward system. Players can get a Dawn Stone by registering 270 Pokemon to the Paldean Pokedex.

Similar to the other evolutionary stones that aren’t sold by Delibird Presents, the only reliable ways to farm Dawn Stones are largely based on RNG. They have a slim chance of being found on the ground as a twinkling treasure. They also can appear as a lot in the Porto Marinada auction house.

Players looking to farm a number of Dawn Stones are best served to manipulate the in-game clock at the Porto Marinada auction house. By moving the Nintendo Switch’s internal clock forward to the next day, players can quickly reset the items available in the auction. There are dozens of possible items that can be sold, so this isn’t especially reliable, but it’s the most efficient method available as of the base version of the game.

Which Pokemon Evolve With A Dawn Stone?

The only Pokemon known to evolve via Dawn Stone in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are Kirlia and Snorunt. The Dawn Stone is the only evolutionary stone with all its applicable Pokemon appearing in Paldea.

Snorunt Into Froslass

Froslass evolves from a Snorunt, at any level, when exposed to the Dawn Stone, but the said Snorunt has to be a female. If the Snorunt is male it will have no effect, but it can evolve into a Glalie starting at level 42.

Snorunt can be found in the Dalizapa Passage or Glasedo Mountain. There is a 50/50 chance that the Pokemon will be male or female, so gamers have a great chance to get a Froslass. The Snow Land Pokemon is a decent ‘mon for battle with 110 speed and 80 special attack. It is unique as it is the only Ice/Ghost type in the whole of the franchise.

Kirlia Into Gallade

Back when Ralts, Kirlia, and Gardevoir were introduced in Generation 3 there was a sense that Gardevoir was a very feminine-looking Pokemon, despite the fact it could be male. This was fixed with Gallade in Generation 4, a male Kirlia when exposed to the Dawn Stone will evolve into the Psychic/Fighting type.

Kirlia will evolve into Gardevoir at level 30 if it is female or male. Although both evolutions are solid in the games, Gallade takes the edge with extra typing for coverage.

Kirlias can be found all across Paldea: in the South Province in Cortondo, Area Two and Lecincia in the East Province, Porto Marinada in the West Province, in the North Province in Dalizapa Passage and Montenevera, and lastly in Area Three of the East Province. Gallade’s best stats are 125 attack and 115 special defense. With a base stat total of 518, it is a solid Pokemon and worthy of the Dawn Stone.

Though Dawn Stones are harder to come across, there are a very small number of Pokemon that require one to evolve in the Paldea region so luckily, you don’t need to find too many.

The two Pokemon that evolve with Dawn Stone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are:

  • Kirlia (male) – Evolves into Gallade
  • Snorunt (female) – Evolves into Froslass

Don’t forget that they’re gender-exclusive evolutions: the Kirlia has to be male and the Snorunt female. Otherwise you won’t be able to evolve them.

How to Get Dawn Stones in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Unlike other Evolution Stones, you can’t buy Dawn Stones at a Delibird Presents store. Instead, you have to hunt them down across Paldea, looking for sparkling spots on the floor.

There are also two static ones that we know of, showing in the overworld of West Province (Area Three) and East Province (Area Three). For a detailed walkthrough on where to find those, check out our Where to Find Dawn Stones in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet guide.

Dawn Stone Evolutions

The first Pokemon that evolves with the dawn stone is Snorunt. This Pokemon has a split evolution path, though. One path will have your Snorunt evolve once it reaches level 42, at which point it will evolve into Glalie.

This is true for both male and female Snorunt. However, if your Snorunt is a female, and you use a Dawn Stone on it before it reaches level 42, it will evolve into Froslass.

The second Pokemon that can evolve using the Dawn Stone has a similar split evolution, like Snorunt. Kirlia will naturally evolve into Gardevoir at level 30, whether it is male or female.

However, if you use the Dawn Stone on a male Kirlia before level 30, it will evolve into Gallade. You cannot find Gallade in the wild, so you’ll need to follow this evolution path if you want to get him.

Where To Find A Dawn Stone

These are some of the easiest evolution stones to find in the game. They can typically be found in grassy fields by collecting the sparkly items scattered everywhere.

More specifically, there is one in the snowy green fields just north of Zapapico right after you pass the Pokemon Center (see flag icon in the image above). You can also find one in the ruins northwest of Medali.

If you are struggling to find one in the wild, you can always go the route of buying one at the Port Marinada auction house. The stock is always random each day, but they do sell evolution stones from time to time. Just be prepared to pay a pretty penny to get one.

The Dawn Stone is a circular turquoise gemstone with lighter edges and a matching starburst pattern in the center. It “sparkles like a glittering eye.” More information on how to obtain Dawn Stones can be found in our Evolutionary Item guide.

At the time of writing, only two Pokemon in the entire franchise evolve using a Dawn Stone. Both of these Pokemon can be found in the Hisui region:

  • Female Snorunt (Froslass)
  • Male Kirlia (Gallade)

Snorunt can be found exclusively in the Alabaster Icelands at Whiteout Valley, Bonechill Wastes, Avalanche Slopes, and/or Avalugg’s Legacy. It can evolve into Glalie at level 42 or female Snorunts can evolve into Froslass using a Dawn Stone. No other requirements are necessary for evolution.

Froslass, the “Snow Land” Pokemon, is said to bear the soul of a woman who died “bearing a grudge.” Some descriptions explain that it may actually be an icicle that took on the woman’s unfinished business, resulting in its hollow body.

According to Laventon, this Pokemon places deathly curses on men who “misbehave.” Its Hisuian PokeDex number is #207.

Kirlia is the evolved form of Ralts, which becomes eligible for evolution at level 20. This Pokemon can found at the Shrouded Ruins in the Crimson Mirelands and Heart’s Crag or Snowpoint Temple in the Alabaster Icelands.

It evolves into Gardevoir at level 30 or male Kirlia can evolve into Gallade when exposed to a Dawn Stone. There are no other requirements for evolution.

Gallade is also known as the “Blade” Pokemon and is known for its intense commitment to chivalry. It only fights in self-defense or the defense of those facing violent injustice. The blades extending from either elbow are impressively sharp and its swordsmanship is impressive, despite being a self-taught combatant.
