What level does charmander evolve in pokemon quest ? Pokémon Quest is a free-to-play action-adventure game in the Pokémon series developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. It was released for the Nintendo Switch in May 2018 and for Android and iOS in June 2018. Within a week of its release, it had reached over 7.5 million downloads.

With a cube-shaped art style, Pokémon Quest is unlike any other Pokémon game released before. The simple gameplay makes it easy to hop into expeditions and start exploring Tumblecube Island with the help of Pokémon buddies!

One of the fan-favorite Pokémon since the Kanto Region has been Charmander. This fiery salamander has been a staple fan-favorite since Gen 1 and makes a strong showing in Pokémon Quest.

Charmander is a Generation 1 Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Red and Blue. It is a Fire-type Pokémon and has been popular since it was released. It was the most picked Starter Pokémon amongst fans of the original games, and with good reason!

In Pokémon Quest, Charmander is just as fierce. Acquiring one of them can be done using any of these two recipes:

  • Red Stew a la Cube
  • Hot Pot a la Cube

Any of these would work, but for the best success rate, we recommend going for the Hot Pot a la Cube using 2 Apricorns and 3 Tiny Mushrooms.

Once Charmander is acquired, the next thing to know is how to evolve it.

Charmander Evolution

In Pokémon Quest, Charmander follows the same evolutionary rules as it does in the mainline Pokémon games. In fact, all the player has to do here is to get Charmander to level 16 and it will evolve into its next stage, Charmeleon.

Following this, Charmeleon has to then be raised up to level 36 for yet another evolution, and that is the fan-favorite Charizard!

Charizard is a Fire/Flying-type Pokémon and extremely strong in all facets of the game. With great base stats and a varied move pool to depend on, Charizard would perfectly fit any lineup the player chooses!

Obtaining Paldean Wooper

Rookie trainers can catch the Poison/Ground-type very early in the game. The first sighting of Paldean Wooper is by the pond near the path between Los Platos and Poco Path Lighthouse.

The Woopers here will be around level 5, meaning trainers can catch one before they even reach Mesagoza. For those that may have missed the level 5 Wooper, don’t worry. Paldean Wooper also live in the southern part of Paldea and can be caught at any of the highlighted locations on the map in the image above.

The next step is to go to Cascarrafa. On the second level of the city (between Cascarrafa Gym, and the lower level by the Asado Desert), there’s a fountain in the middle of the square.

Here, there will be an NPC who will want a Paldean Wooper. (Players can read this in the yellow word bubble above her head.) Speak to her, and she’ll ask if players want to trade their Paldean Wooper for a Johtonian Wooper.

As a traded Pokemon, the Johtonian Wooper is already nicknamed (Manchester). It is level 18, and will receive bonus EXP in battle. Unlike its Paldean counterpart, this Wooper will evolve into the Water/Ground-type Quagsire at level 20 instead of Clodsire.

How to Get More Johtonian Woopers

If players do not have The Teal Mask DLC and want another Johtonian Wooper, they will have to breed the Wooper they got from the trade. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as putting the traded Wooper with a Paldean Wooper.

Trainers will need to make sure the Johtonian Wooper (or Quagsire) is holding an Everstone before taking it on a picnic with a Ditto or another compatible Pokemon. The Everstone will ensure that the offspring Pokemon is Johtonian Wooper and not the Paldean Wooper.

To increase the probability of Pokemon Eggs appearing, make sandwiches that have the Egg Power meal effect. Sandwiches that contain mostly sweet ingredients (such as fruit, peanut butter, whipped cream, or jam) will have Egg Power.

Additionally, there are “sweet recipes” that players can get from the man at the Sandwich Stores around Paldea. For those that don’t have time or the ingredients for crafting sandwiches, buy food from restaurants or ice cream stands. Each food item will have its effects listed.

Players should also keep in mind that having an Everstone on a Pokemon for breeding means that the parent’s nature will be carried over to the offspring. So if the parent Johtonian Wooper has a Brave Nature, its child will have Brave Nature too.

To change this, players can make a save file before they trade with the Cascarrafa NPC. If Wooper doesn’t have the right Nature, then they can soft-reset. Alternatively, players can go to the Chansey Supply store and buy a Nature Mint. Trainers that don’t care for Pokemon Natures or EVs won’t have to worry about this.

Where to Catch Wooper & Quagsire in The Teal Mask

Players that have The Teal Mask DLC can access Kitakami, a new region with new and old Pokemon. To do so, they will need to have started the three main storylines of Scarlet/Violet:

Starfall Street

Victory Road

Path of Legends

From there, speak to Briar at Naranja/Uva Academy to go to Kitakami. As soon as players land in this new area, they’ll need to go to Mossui Town to speak to the Caretaker. However, players are free to catch the new Pokemon along the way.

Wooper can be found in the rice paddies on Kitakami Road, which is the road leading to Mossui Town from the Bus Stop. Its level can be around level 10, or, if players have already completed the main story of SV, level 60.

Thanks to its Water-typing, players can try catching it with Net Balls, which have a higher catch rate when used on a Bug or Water-type Pokemon.

Those that don’t want to level their Wooper to 20 can instead look for Quagsire. These Pokemon will appear in Fellhorn Gorge (near Kitakami Hall), but players can find a Poison-type Terastallized Quagsire in the Timeless Woods. Be warned that the Terastallized Quagsire will always be level 55 regardless if players have finished the main story or not.

Finally, another way to catch Wooper and Quagsire is to fight them in Tera Raids. Wooper will appear in 1-Star Tera Raids, while Quagsire only spawns in 4-Star Tera Raids and 6-Star Tera Raids.

Keep in mind that in order to get a 6-Star Tera Raid, Scarlet/Violet players will need to have finished the postgame/Ace Academy Tournament. This will unlock a quest that eventually leads to the spawning of 6-Star Tera Raids.

These are much more challenging than 5-Star Tera Raids, so bring a Pokemon that’s level 100, and have it equipped with a solid moveset.

Quagsire vs. Clodsire

Johtonian Wooper and Quagsire’s stats are more well-rounded than their Paldean counterparts, who excel in HP and Special Defense. As a Water/Ground-type, Quagsire shares Clodsire’s immunity to Electric-type moves.

However, Quagsire and its pre-evolved form will take 4x damage from Grass-type moves. Most of Quagsire’s learnset is made of Physical moves such as Slam, but its all-around stats mean that it can make better use of Special moves like Ice Beam.

Quagsire has a Type advantage over Clodsire, but it lacks the Special Defense that Clodsire has. It’s also only a little faster than Clodsire and while its Special Attack is higher, Quagsire works better as a Physical attacker. It’s likely that Scarlet/Violet trainers will get the Johtonian Wooper just for completion’s sake.

Ultimately, it’s up to players whether they want to keep a Johtonian Wooper/Quagsire on their final team. There are many Water-type and Ground-type Pokemon new and old in Paldea, so it’s likely that Quagsire may be overlooked.

It should also be noted that players do not need to get the Johtonian Wooper (or its evolution) to complete the Paldean Pokedex, but they will need it for the Kitakami Pokedex.
