What is Alolan Pokemon ? How to get every rare Alolan Pokémon in Pokemon Let’s Go!

What is alolan pokemon? If you’ve been playing Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu or Eevee for a bit, you may have run into a strange trainer offering to trade you a Rattata for a Rattata, or similar.

You may have passed them by, thinking the offer was ridiculous. But it wasn’t! Though the trainer was being purposefully vague in their offer, this was just one of two ways to acquire Alolan Form Pokémon in Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee.

What are Alolan Pokémon?

Alolan Pokémon are special, unique forms of certain familiar Pokémon that debuted in Pokémon Sun and Moon. Though these Pokémon may look familiar, their appearances will differ in subtle or dramatic ways, they will have different movesets, and will often have drastically different typings from their Kanto counterparts.

Though native to the Alola region of Pokémon Sun and Moon, Alola Pokémon only exist as alternate forms of Kanto Pokémon, which means they are available in Pokémon Let’s Go if you know where to find them.

Not every Pokémon has an Alolan form. Here are all the Alolan Pokémon that exist at the moment:

  • Rattata
  • Raticate
  • Grimer
  • Muk
  • Meowth
  • Persian
  • Sandshrew
  • Sandslash
  • Vulpix
  • Ninetales
  • Geodude
  • Graveler
  • Golem
  • Diglett
  • Dugtrio
  • Exeggutor
  • Raichu
  • Marowak

Obtaining through Pokémon GO

Just like any other Generation 1 Pokémon, Alolan Pokémon can be obtained in Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee by transferring them from Pokémon GO.

The Pokémon GO Park, located in Fuchsia City, is a great way to offload extra Alolan anything from those 7km eggs into Pokémon Let’s Go. We have a whole guide on how it works right here.

Alolan Pokémon in Pokémon GO can be obtained from 7km eggs, which are in turn obtained from sending gifts to friends. Rattata can be found in the wild. The only ones not available via these methods are Raichu, Exeggutor, and Marowak, which can be found in Raid Battles.

Obtaining through trades

Far simpler than mucking around with the Pokémon GO Park is to obtain Alolan Pokémon through in-game trades. Every existing Alolan Pokémon can be obtained in Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee through trading Pokémon with NPC trainers located in various Pokémon Centers around Kanto.

In order to receive the Alolan Pokémon, you’ll need to trade them a normal, Kanto version of the same Pokémon . So for instance, you’ll trade a Rattata in Cerulean City for an Alolan Rattata. The best news? You can do this as many times as you want!

The following Pokémon can be traded for inside the Pokémon Center in each respective city:

  • Rattata – Cerulean City
  • Geodude – Vermilion City
  • Diglett – Lavender Town
  • Sandshrew or Vulpix – Celadon City (Version exclusives)
  • Raichu – Saffron City
  • Marowak – Fuchsia City
  • Grimer/Meowth – Cinnabar Island (Version exclusives)
  • Exeggutor – Indigo Plateau
