Only One Version

The Sweeping Edge Enchantment is only available in the Java Version of the game and is not available for the Pocket edition, Windows 10 Edition, Education edition, or any console version. Getting the Enchantment

If players have OP permissions, they can use a command to add the Sweeping Edge enchantment, just like the commands to create items or teleport in Minecraft. Which is the better enchantment between Sweeping Edge and Sharpness in Minecraft?

1) Sweeping Edge

First, let’s take a look at the Sweeping Edge. This is a special one as it can only be applied to a sword, and is only available in the Java Edition of the game. This essentially increases the overall strength of the sweeping attack with a sword.

The sweeping attack increases the overall attack strength to 50% with the first level, 67% with the second level and 75% with the third level. Basically, it adds normal attack damage to the sword with the enchantment’s level.

Since this is exclusive to Java Edition and the sword, it is not the best one for players in general. Though Java Edition players can make good use of it, higher level players will use an ax on which this cannot be applied.

Sharpness

Sharpness is another combat-focused enchantment. This can also be obtained from an enchanting table or from a librarian. This powerup can be applied to both swords and axes. Essentially, it increases the overall sharpness of the weapon and increases the damage per hit.

In Java Edition, each level of this increases the attack strength by 0.5, whereas in Bedrock Edition, it increases the attack strength by 1.25. Hence, this powerup is much more powerful in the Bedrock Edition of the game.

Therefore, sharpness is a much better powerup as it can also be applied to an ax which many players use due to more attacking strength. Plus, it can be used by both Java and Bedrock Edition players.

The only downside is that it cannot be applied alongside Smite, Cleaving and Bane of Arthropods. Despite that, Sharpness is much better than Sweeping Edge in Minecraft.

The Sweeping Edge enchantment is used to increase the damage dealt when you use a sweeping attack with your Sword. It can be applied exclusively only to a Sword and has three levels. The levels of damage increased per level is 50/67/75%. Now, whenever multiple mobs attack you, and you go for a sweep attack, your damage will be enhanced.

To do a sweep attack with your Sword, you just need to have it in your hand and attack a mob that is on the same Y level as you. If it is above you at all, you will do the normal swing. If Sweeping Edge is on the item, your character will strike the mobs in front of you with a horizontal sweep.

How to get Sweeping Edge in Minecraft

Getting the Sweeping Edge enchantment is the same as any other enchantment. You can find an Enchantment Book that gives the buff by exploring the world, trading, or fishing it out of water. When you have the book, go to an Anvil and spend the Experience needed to add it to a Sword of your choice. Additionally, you can try your luck at an Enchantment Table, but those are more luck-oriented. Since we are talking about a Java-only enchantment, we will add that you can use the enchant @sweeping 3 command to enchant it instantly to the third level. To do either of the other levels, just change the number.

As sweep attacks require you to be standing still in Minecraft, if you’re moving around a lot when you’re fighting off Creepers, Skeletons, and Zombies you’re not going to get any benefit from Sweeping Edge.

How to Use Sweeping Edge

To use Sweeping Edge, all you need to do is perform a Sweep Attack. This can be done by standing still or moving at no faster than walking speed. As long as your attack recharge is above 84.8%, you’ll perform a Sweep Attack that knocks back enemies and damages them.

The additional damage granted by Sweeping Edge to Sweep Attacks will automatically be applied as long as you’re using the weapon with the enchantment. Remember, it will only grant bonus damage when performing Sweep Attacks and no other kind.
