How to get porygon z ? Tuesday, November 15, 2022, marks the Porygon Spotlight Hour event for Pokemon GO. This means trainers everywhere are gathering all the information they can regarding one of the franchise’s most interesting families.
Of course, one of the questions they may have is how they can fully evolve their new Porygon.
As those experienced with the main series will know, Porygon is the only creature in the franchise to have received two entirely new evolutions since its debut.
Porygon can evolve into Porygon2 starting in the second generation of games. Later in the fourth generation, players can evolve their Porygon2 into Porygon-Z.
Getting one’s Porygon to reach its final form can be time-consuming in Pokemon GO. After all, the evolution process is different from that in the main series, with more than just two items and a friend to trade with being required.
Pokemon GO trainers need 100 Porygon candies and a Sinnoh Stone to get Porygon-Z
Before discussing Porygon’s evolution process in Pokemon GO, it should be noted that it is possible for trainers to find the creature in the wild. Having clear weather with Lures and Incense active will yield the best chance of encountering it.
To begin the evolution process, trainers must start with Porygon. This creature should be easy to find in Pokemon GO on Tuesday as the Spotlight Hour Event will drastically increase the likelihood of it spawning. This occurrence will begin at 6:00 pm local time and continue until 7:00 pm local time.
Once trainers catch their Porygon, they will need to evolve it first into Porygon2. This can be done through the use of 25 Porygon candies and the Upgrade item.
Many trainers may have one lying around in their bag and not know how to use it, considering it is only used for evolving Porygon and no other creature.
After evolving Porygon into Porygon2, the next step is to evolve it into Porygon-Z. Thankfully, trainers will not need to search the ends of the earth to find the Dubious Disc in Pokemon GO. They will only need 100 Porygon candies and a Sinnoh Stone in order to evolve Porygon2 into Porygon-Z.
The upcoming Spotlight Hour Event will give trainers the best chance to accumulate 125 Porygon candies. Without Pinap Berries, players will need to catch a total of 42 wild Porygons in order to achieve this amount. Of course, this amount is halved if players have 21 Pinap Berries.
As for the two required items, there is no guaranteed way to find them. Spinning the new gold Pokestops have been reported to drop evolutionary items in Pokemon GO.
They will have a higher chance of doing so if the player spins them after completing a seven-day streak. Unfortunately, these items cannot be purchased either.
Porygon-Z has the potential to be an amazing battler, thanks to its potent Normal-type attacks and high offensive stats. However, its trainer should be cautious of its lower defensive stats.
Nevertheless, the creature is one of Pokemon GO’s best late-game sweepers once all the opponent’s shields are gone.
How to Catch Porygon
After defeating Kleavor, odd dimensions called space-time distortions will start spawning around Hisui. A message will appear at the top of the screen when one starts forming.
However, it may take some time for the space-time distortion to fully form. When it does, another notification will appear saying “A space-time distortion appeared!”
Porygon and its evolutions will appear in the space-time distortions in the Crimson Mirelands. Like all other Pokemon in the distortions, Porygon will be aggressive and attack the minute it sees the trainer. Stun it with Mud Balls and Spoiled Apricorns, or send out a Pokemon to battle it.
How to Evolve Porygon & Porygon2
The Upgrade and the Dubious Disc are still needed to evolve Porygon. However, since Pokemon can’t hold items in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, evolutionary items like the Upgrade/Dubious Disc work like evolution stones.
To get Porygon2, use the Upgrade on Porygon. Then, to get Porygon-Z, use the Dubious Disc on Porygon2.
Players can buy the Upgrade from the Ginko Guild, but the items are randomized. A more surefire way to get the Upgrade is by spending 1000 Merit Points (MP) at the Trading Post near Jubilife Village’s Galaxy Hall.
The Dubious Disc is also available at the Trading Post, but it will cost 1400 MP instead.
Before evolving Porygon into Porygon2, it’s recommended to try and get its Research Level to 10. Trainers should do the same with Porygon2. Once players have enough research tasks to fill out Porygon and Porygon2’s Pokedex entry, it’ll be time to evolve Porygon-Z.
Where to find Porygon in Pokemon Legends Arceus
Trainers looking for the Normal-type will first need to progress the story up until Mission 8: Arezu’s Predicament as Porygon can only be caught in the Crimson Mirelands.
Players will have to track down the digital ‘mon first though, and its location can be a bit sneaky as its spawn is randomized.
Below we break down the steps on where you can find Porygon and it add it to your team:
- Head to the Crimson Mirelands.
- Once there you need to wait for a Space-Time Distortion to appear. The mechanic won’t be unlocked until you progress the story through half of Mission 8.
- Space-Time Distortions are unfortunately random, so you will need to just run around the map and knock out or catch as many wild Pokemon as possible.
- You will eventually get a text across the screen letting you know one has appeared on the map. Travel to the massive purple dome in the sky and wait for the portal to open up.
- Hop on your Wyrdeer mount and ride around inside the distortion in a circle and look for Porygon.
- If one never shows up, you will need to wait for another Distortion to appear.
- Once you see it, hop off your Wyrdeer and catch it! The Normal-type will usually spawn multiple times so make sure to catch as many as you can for its evolutions.
How to evolve Porygon2
Once you’ve caught yourself a Porygon, you will next need to evolve it. Unlike previous entries though, you no longer have to trade the digital ‘mon with another player to trigger its special evolution.
Hit up on your D-pad to access the menu. Select the ‘Upgrade’ item and give it to Porygon.
This will then unlock its evolution which will rigger automatically.
And that’s it! You now have the Normal-Type’s second evolution.
How to evolve Porygon-Z
Just like Porygon2, players will not need to trade the character with another Trainer. Game Freak has simplified the process by ditching the trade evolution mechanic in PLA.
In Hisui, Porygon2 evolves into Porygon-Z using the Dubious Disc item which is sold at Jubilife Village’s Trading Post.
After obtaining a Porygon2, head to your menu screen.
Select the Dubious Disc item and give it to your Porygon2.
The digital Pokemon will evolve into Porygon-Z.
You now have the trio complete.
